Wanda Amey

PEORIA HEIGHTS - Wanda M. (Rickett) Amey, 89, of Peoria Heights passed away at 1:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2012, at OSF St. Clare Home.

Born on July 22, 1922, in Washington Township, Mich., to Charles L. and Jennie L. (Phillips) Branton, she married Harold A. Rickett in 1940 in Michigan and he preceded her in death in 1960 in Carsonville, Mich. She later married Roy Amey on Oct. 5, 1974, in Detroit, Mich. He preceded her in death in December of 1993 in Deckerville, Mich.

Her parents; one son, Charles Rickett; one brother, Lewis Rickett; one sister, Nina Dinkelaker; and one granddaughter, Jonna Lee Rickett, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Albert (Gerry) Rickett of Lakewood, Colo., and her daughter-in-law, Marlene Rickett of Peoria. Also surviving are one brother, Willis Branton of Huntsville, Ala.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Wanda worked at Yale Rubber Manufacturing for many years until retiring in 1974.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Peoria, a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Deckerville, Mich., and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 273 in Sandusky, Mich.

A funeral will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. Randal Saxon will officiate. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery in Carsonville, Mich.
