PEORIA HEIGHTS - Wanda Lula Rogers, 75, of Peoria Heights passed away at 5:05 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family and her dog, Skippy.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 W. Lake Ave. in Peoria, with Father Terry Cassidy officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
Wanda was born on June 23, 1937, in Peoria, a daughter of William Auston and Mary Lula (Crotz) Cheesman. She married Charles Walter "Pete" Rogers on Nov. 5, 1953, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2009, in Peoria Heights.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Genevieve Nevitt and Bernadine Davis; and two great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, George Walter (Debra) Rogers and Mary Juanita Rogers (Toby Bachler) of Peoria Heights, Pete Auston (Viola) Rogers of Morton, Kenneth Lyndon (Sherrie) Rogers of East Peoria, John Alan Rogers of Peoria and Wayne Willard (Tracey) Rogers of Farmington; a twin brother, William Lewis Cheesman of Maryland; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Wanda was a former member of the Hanna City Sportsman's Club and enjoyed crafts, crocheting, making dolls, canning and gardening. She loved quilting and has quilts on display at Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site.
