Wilfred Blundy

EAST PEORIA - Wilfred F. Blundy Sr., 96, of East Peoria, formerly of Morton, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Heartland of Riverview.

He was born on Nov. 10, 1917, in rural Brimfield to Frederick T. and Nellie M. Reinhart Blundy. He married Francis M. Despines on Dec. 12, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo. She passed away on Nov. 4, 1984.

Also preceding him in death were one brother and three sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Bill (Peg) Blundy of East Peoria and Dennis (Murriel) Blundy of Washington. Four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew also survive.

Wilfred was a 1935 graduate of Brimfield High School.

Wilfred was an honorably discharged World War II U.S. Army veteran.

After returning home from his tour of duty, he went to work for Caterpillar. He retired from Caterpillar on June 1, 1974, with 32 years of service.

Cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of life service at a later date.
