PEORIA - Marion Blanche Littlejohn, 88, of Kirkland died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, in Maplecrest Care Center in Belvidere.
She was born Nov. 26, 1919, in Genoa, the daughter of William and Catherine (Golwitzer) James. She married Ray Littlejohn on June 22, 1940, in St. Catherine of Genoa Catholic Church.
She and her husband operated the Village Inn Tavern, commonly known as Ray and Marion's.
Marion was a member of St. Catherine Church.
An avid bowler for more than 60 years, she attended 37 national bowling tournaments. She was a member of the Illinois Women's Bowling Association for 21 years, serving as state treasurer. She also was a life member and Hall of Fame Member of Fox Valley Women's Bowling Association. She was also inducted into the Illinois Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
Marion is survived by her son, Thomas R. (Peggy) Littlejohn of Rockford; grandchildren, Michael (Brandi) Littlejohn of Rockford, Shannon Littlejohn of Janesville, Wis., Jennifer (Erik) Marshall of Kirkland and Tessa Marshall of Rockford; great-grandchildren, Michael, Ian, Madison, Logan, Montanna, Alex and Dalton; great-great-grandchildren, Alicia and Ethan; sisters, Helen Weaver of Largo, Fla., and Evelyn Toots James of Genoa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ray; brothers, Thomas, Elmer, Marvin, Pete and Leo; and sister, Irene Coan.
Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Thursday, Oct. 30, in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott St., Genoa, with the Rev. Tim Seigel officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Cooper-Quiram Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Main St., Genoa, with the rosary recited at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Catherine Cemetery.
