Kathleen Armato Obituary

PEORIA - Kathleen "Kathy" Bridget Armato, 62, of Peoria passed away surrounded by her family at 11:31 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center after a short but valiant battle with cancer.

She was born Feb. 13, 1947, in Peoria, Ill., to Donald and Lucille Dunne Rogy.

She was a member of St. Thomas Parish for 33 years.

She worked her entire career in the food industry, beginning as a proprietor with Armato's Pizza, and most recently as a sales manager with Acosta Foods.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Lucille Dunne Rogy; and three brothers, Donald Gene Rogy, Richard Dick Rogy and Thomas Tom Rogy.

Kathleen is survived by one daughter, Teressa (Terry) Bohmer of Peoria, Ill.; one son, Joseph (Libby) Armato of Colleyville, Texas; seven grandsons, Ryan Bohmer, Brandon Bohmer, Taylor Bohmer and Tyler Bohmer, all of Peoria, Ill., and Nicholas Armato, Landon Armato and Aidan Armato, all of Colleyville, Texas; three sisters, Mary (Dick) Van Norman of Peoria, Ill., Sue (Randy) Brenenstall of Peoria, Ill., and Julie (Terry) Linne of Peoria, Ill.; three sisters-in-law, Gayle Rogy of Peoria, Ill., Rae Jean Rogy of Peoria, Ill., and Kathy Rogy of Peoria, Ill.; 14 nephews; eight nieces; numerous grandnephews and grandnieces; and many other extended family members, as well as dear friends.

Kathy was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Bradley Braves fan, but she was the biggest fan to each of her grandsons, supporting and loving them in every way. She was taken from us much too quickly and will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at St. Thomas Church in Peoria Heights. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 30 at St. Thomas Church in Peoria Heights, with Monsignor William A. Watson officiating. Further visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Thomas Building Fund.

Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com.

Mary, Sue, and Julie,
Since I heard the news about Kathy, I have had memory after memory of all us kids on Terrace View Lane playing baseball on the mowed field behind the Prunch house, riding bikes down the street in our neighborhood parades, hiking in the woods, plays in the Helms garage, paper dolls, sledding, good snow ball fights and eating buttered saltines at your house.

One of my special adult memories of Kathy was of accompanying her on the piano when she sang for some special event years ago. It always blew me away that such a tomboy grew up to have that magnificent voice. She sang "Bewitched" for that program. Forever that song makes me think of her.

Kathy was a funny, generous, happy human being with a super family. You must be missing her so much.

I will be having a mass said for Kathy at our church next month.

Love,
Connie Prunch Dodge

Although I only knew Kathy through the Alzheimer's Memory Walks and at Bradley games I will always remember her smile, quips and can do attitude.
Such a wonderful woman and instant friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

It is with deepest sadness and feelings of loss that we express our sympathy to all of you in Kathy's family. Shock and disbelief will be difficult to live with as we try to absorb the impact. Kathy was a wonderful person who loved her family more than herself. Just being her neighbor and friend created a sense of being part of her family as we shared experiences and events surrounding family. She will be missed and our lives are more worth while for having known her. God bless you Kathy and be with your family and friends as we grieve and celebrate her life as our gift from You. We will always have treasured memories of her to cherish for the remainder of our lives! Sincerely, Michael & Yvonne Hagenbuch

Julie and Sue, I am so sorry to hear about Kathy passing. Was a shock to read in paper. Many year since Gilardis has closed down I would still see Kathy at the Wal Mart store in Kewanee, Ill. Don't worry about Kathy she will be fine, and have everyone in heaven on the straight and narrow. I thought and cared about her so much. Love Anita and Judy Woodward.
