Dennis Quickle Obituary

WASHINGTON - Dennis G. Quickle I, 67, of Washington passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 7, 1943, in St. Clair, Mich., a son of George and Rosie Allen Levan Quickle. He married Betty Dodson on May 18, 1962. She preceded him in death May 1, 1999, in Peoria. He then married Brenda Clover on April 18, 2005, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Dennis (Michelle) Quickle II of Peoria, Dale (Lindsey) Quickle of Marquette Heights, Donald Quickle of Peoria and Kevin (Tammie) Quickle of Washington; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Gini (George) Ioerger of Bayview Gardens, Pam (Kay) Rogers of Washington and Crystal (Scott) Scribner of Washington; one brother, Jim (Marie) Blumenstock of East Peoria; three dogs, Lucy, Butch and Snuggles; one beloved cat, Sylvester; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty; one grandson, Nicholas Rogers; one stepson, Jeff McKinney; and one brother, Lee Quickle.

Dennis was a U.S. Army veteran serving two tours in Vietnam. He was stationed in Germany and served in the Army from 1962 to 1970.

He first worked at Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville from 1972 to 1982 and later was employed by Frate Service in Spring Bay for more than 20 years.

He was a member of AMVETS, American Legion Post 2, and the Greater Peoria Bowling Association.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Dennis enjoyed fishing, bowling and family life. He was very spontaneous and loved vacation trips and retirement.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Pastor Bob DeBolt will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Peace in Parkview Cemetery.

Dale, Denny, and family. I am so sorry for your loss. Papa Bear was such a sweet man. He always had a smile on his face. He knew how to make you laugh. He gave the greatest hugs. He was so much fun to bowl with and it was an honor to know him.
