PEORIA - A. Wayne Crumby, 78, of Peoria passed away at 10:09 a.m. Monday, Feb., 28, 2011, at Methodist Medical Center.
He was born July 5, 1932, in Leapwood, Tenn., to Frank Caruthers and Silvia Crumby-Fomberg. He was raised by his grandparents, Charlie and Nancy Crumby. He married MaryAnn Partlow on Dec. 31, 1955, in Peoria. She died July 13, 2006, in Peoria.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and three sisters.
Surviving are his children, James Robbin Crumby of Peoria, Juanita (Moises) Contreras of Creve Coeur, Linda (Kevin) Bushnell of Peoria and Lucinda "Cindy" (Tim Sr.) Minder of Princeville; two sisters, Velma Sue Patterson of Biloxi, Miss., and Peggy Camper of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Wayne worked at Caterpillar before retiring after more than 30 years of service. He later worked at White Oaks as an aide and driver from 1988 to 1995.
He was a member of AA for over 35 years.
It was a way of life for him, and he was extremely proud of himself, as was all of his family, for his accomplishment.
Wayne loved to record movies on his VCR. He also loved to tape record his own singing and playing his old flattop guitar. He also loved to dance.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Pastor Mike Martin will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in West Jersey Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cindy Minder for the care of Shaun Wayne Crumby (Wayne's grandson).

Wayne became a good customer and a very good friend. It's sad to think he's no longer here with us, but it is liberating to believe his spirit is peacfully listening to bluegrass in heaven! He is a good man!
