Arthur Cox Obituary

CHILLICOTHE - Arthur Delbert Cox, 69, of Chillicothe passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Heritage Manor Health Care.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. The Rev. Robert Ohlmann will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Chillicothe City Cemetery.

He was born on Oct. 6, 1944, in Joliet, the son of Delbert and Ruth (Lynn) Cox. He married Elizabeth Kramer on March 1, 1964. She preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 1971. He was also preceded in death by his son, John, on Jan. 11, 2010; three brothers; and three sisters. He married Mary H. Winner on Dec. 26, 1971, in Jacksonville.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years; daughter, Royce (Dennis) Clark of Elmwood; his sons, Bryan (Rachel) of Valdosta, Ga., and Brad (Phoenix) of Geneseo; and his beloved grandchildren, Ben, Kara, Denver, Layne, River, Owen and Nicholas. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Larry (Pat) of Savanna, Bonnie (Gary) Abney of Thompson, Sue (Jack) Fritchtnitch of Morris, Linda (Larry) Stake of Chillicothe and Jean (Jerry) Force of Breadstown; and many nieces and nephews.

Arthur worked for Caterpillar for 30 years, retiring in 1996.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and bluegrass and country music. He enjoyed restoring his tractors with his sons.

He was a member of the Central Illinois Farm Heritage Tractor Club and the Peoria Casting Club.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Heritage Health for the excellent care provided to their dad.
