PEORIA - Barbara Ann Carlson, 81, of Peoria, formerly of Woodhull, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018, at home.
She was born on July 24, 1937, in Galesburg, the daughter of Richard and Ruth Ilene (Gustafson) Dunn. She married Raymond Carlson on July 22, 1956, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death in 2016.
She is survived by three sons, Steven (Cheryl) Carlson of Watertown, Wisconsin, Scott (Laurie) Carlson of Peoria and Troy (Sara) Carlson of Williams, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Melissa Carlson, Sarah (Laramie) Schroeder, Daniel (Jennifer) Carlson, Evan Carlson, Hannah Carlson, Abby Carlson and Nathan Carlson; two great-grandchildren, Korbin Schroeder and Bennett Schroeder; two brothers, Pastor John (Anita) Carlson of Galesburg and Dan (Grace) Dunn of Corydon, Indiana; and two sisters, Janet (Harold) Griffith and Lois Malcolm, both of Galesburg.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Walter Carlson; a brother, Donald Carlson; and a sister, Caryl Poland.
Barbara was a homemaker, daycare provider and a house cleaner. She was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1955.
Barbara was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school for most of her life. She also enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the chapel. Barbara's three sons will officiate. Burial will follow in Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Ophiem.
