PEORIA HEIGHTS - Barry Neal Freres, 74, of Peoria Heights passed away at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born Oct. 3, 1939, in Peoria, a son of Samuel and Harriett Morris Freres, Barry married Kathy Montgomery on Dec. 31, 1983, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Barry Scot Freres of Peoria, Doug (Kristi) Freres of Manito and Rodney Neal (Tracy) Freres of Peoria Heights; one stepson, Michael (Amber) Sea of North Pekin; one stepdaughter, Michelle Sheridan of Creve Coeur; one sister, Patricia Ulick of Peoria; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Earl Dix; one great-grandson, Will Scot Freres; one brother, Jack Freres; and one sister, Betty Sundin.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Barry worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years, retiring in 1992 as a letter carrier. He was past owner of Barry's Auto Sales in Peoria.
He was known as a wheeler/dealer and enjoyed boating, camping and motorcycles. He was a member of the American Motorcycle Association. He was past commodore at Pekin Boat Club, and a former member of White Caps Drifter Boat Club and Peoria Motorcycle Club.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at the Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. The Rev. Dr. Curt Keller will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Edwards, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps and American Legion Post 2.
