WASHINGTON - Bernice Booker, 95, of Washington, formerly of Toulon, died at 7:10 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community in Chenoa.
Bernice was born Oct. 15, 1917, the daughter of Rolla H. and Mable Lush Cole. She married Charles Gilbert Booker on Nov. 28, 1936, in Peoria. He died Dec. 30, 1969.
Surviving are two sons, Dick Booker of Washington, Ill., and David (Linda) Booker of Tremont, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lester Cole of Phoenix, Ariz.
One son, Roger Booker, and seven brothers preceded her in death.
Bernice worked at Mearson Label in Peoria, where she would prepare food dishes that would be photographed and put on labels of cans. Later she worked at WABCO in Peoria.
She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Bernice was a member of the Toulon Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Toulon Cemetery. The Rev. Al Harmon will officiate. There will be no visitation.
