ADAIR - Bette L. Beal, age 85, of Adair, Ill., passed away at 12:34 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Ill.
She was born on Aug. 17, 1927, in Adair, Ill., to Arvin and Ruth McBride Wilt. She married Jack Beal on July 31, 1948, in Bushnell, Ill.
Bette is survived by her husband, Jack of Adair, Ill.; one son, Larry (Cheryl) Beal of Adair, Ill.; one sister, Sue (Dan) Griswold of Columbiana, Ala.; and two grandchildren, Holly (Andy) Riggins of Macomb, Ill., and J.D. Beal of Adair, Ill. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Katie, Sarah and Masyn Riggins and Jarrett and Jack Beal; and several nieces and nephews.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Robert, Gene and Travis Wilt.
Bette worked at Sugar Bowl in Macomb, Webb's Grocery in Bushnell, Adair Cafe, Mickelberry's in Bushnell, and was a bookkeeper for Beal's Garage in Adair.
She enjoyed many activities, such as gardening, motorcycling, boating, fishing, bowling, painting, snowmobiling, car races and spending summer months at their cabin on Spoon River at Seville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell, Ill. Pastor Dave Eden will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of services at the funeral home on Monday. Burial will be in the Bushnell Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Salem Fire and Rescue Squad.
