ROANOKE - Betty Lou Gralak, 83, of Zionsville, Ind., formerly of Roanoke, passed away at 7:25 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Zionsville Meadows Nursing Home in Zionsville.
She was born in Roanoke on Feb. 17, 1931, a daughter of Sam and Mary Dekany Hasler. She married Edward A. Gralak on Nov. 29, 1958, in Roanoke. He preceded her in death in 1959.
Surviving are her children, Janice (Randy) Novotny of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Ed (Jill) Gralak of Carmel, Ind.; and grandchildren, Joseph and Emily Gralak of Carmel, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Betty graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1952. She spent a great deal of her years as a nurse working for OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria and for Dr. Meyer's office in Roanoke.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Roanoke, with Monsignor Charles Beebe officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Roanoke Township Cemetery following the Mass.
