BARTONVILLE - Billy David Altum, 85, formerly of Bartonville, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at the Farmington Country Manor in Farmington, Ill.

He was born Aug. 26, 1926, in Wenona, Ill. He was the son of Milton and Ora (Roberts) Altum. He married Norma Heilman on Aug. 24, 1958, in Peoria, Ill. She preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 2006, in Peoria, Ill.

He is also preceded in death by one granddaughter and one grandson, six brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by two daughters, Pauline Stevenson of Peoria, Ill., and Marlene (John) Cook of Washington, Ill. He has one son, Billy G. Altum of Peoria. He is survived by three grandchildren, Julie Johnson, Annie Stevenson and Joshua Altum; he has one great-grandson, Sidney Crane.

Billy worked many years as an equipment operator at Caterpillar, retiring in 1982.

He was a WWII Army veteran and a member of VFW Post 6026 in El Paso, Ill.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bartonville.

Private graveside services will be held at the Parkview Cemetery.
