Bradley Abel Obituary

PEORIA - Bradley S. Abel, age 66, of Peoria passed away Friday, March, 14, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist, surrounded by his family.

Born Jan. 15, 1948, in Peoria, he was a son to the late Perry Von and B. Joyce Blessing-Abel. On July 1, 1967, Bradley married Kathleen M. Finnell in Peoria.

He worked as a salesman for American Bottling for 26 years, until his retirement.

Bradley was a former member of El Vista Baptist Church and Woodland Baptist Church and was a current member of St. Andrew's Anglican.

He was an avid collector of many things, including coins and stamps, and loved going to flea markets. Bradley lived a life founded on his faith in Christ and a hard work ethic and will always be remembered for his generosity, as well as being a loving husband, father, brother and Pop Pop.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathleen; two children, Steven (Jennifer) Abel of Colorado and Ruth E. Abel of Peoria; five grandchildren, Rachel Abel, Brianna Holt, BrandiRose Abel, Ashley (Tim) Hesslink and Anna Vessa; one sister, Luann (Mark) Marzinzik of Germantown Hills; one brother-in-law, Robert E. Murphy Jr. of Mossville; and two nephews, Samuel P. Haddad of Waco, Texas, and Nicholas Marzinzik of Peoria; as well as special friend, Joy Siebenborn.

Bradley was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nancee Murphy; one niece, Carie Murphy; and a nephew, Joseph Murphy.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, 2021 N. University St. Peoria, IL 61604. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrews Anglican, 1601 NE Madison Peoria, IL 61603, with Father Shawn Doubet and the Rev. Joey Watt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Andrews Anglican Columbarium.

Memorials may be made in Bradley's memory to the Peoria Christian School Library.
