WEST PEORIA - Clarice I. Anders, 93, of West Peoria, formerly of Galesburg and Chicago, passed away and went to be with the Lord at 10:23 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria, surrounded by her family.

She was born Oct. 9, 1920, in Olmstead County, Minn., to Lysle Harvey and Verna Belle Weaver Clement. On May 3, 1958, she married Ronald E. Anders in Chicago. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2005, in Galesburg, Ill.
Clarice is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Anders of Chicago and Marilyn (Dan Morse) Anders of West Peoria; one sister, Wilma (Meindert) Zylstra of Chatfield, Minn.; and two sisters-in-law, Deloris Clement of South St. Paul, Minn., and Lorraine Anders of Riverside, Calif. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Mae, Florence, Nadine and Merle; and three brothers, Dale, Boyd and Keith.
Clarice attended rural county schools and graduated from Stewartville High School in 1939. She migrated to Chicago during World War II to work for the Department of War, filing war bond stubs in 1943. After the war, she worked at Montgomery Ward Central Office in several departments. She later took a work sabbatical to raise her two daughters, after which she returned to work for and retired from Eureka X-ray Tube Company in Chicago.
She spent much of her time serving her church in many capacities, including deaconess, Christian Women's Fellowship leader, Sunday school secretary, church secretary, church treasurer and later in life as a pew warmer.
Clarice and Ron moved to Galesburg after they both retired, until Ron's passing. She then moved to West Peoria to live with her daughter, Marilyn.
There will be a memorial service on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Christian Church in Peoria. The Rev. Arvil Bass will officiate. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria, as well as one half hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of her cremated remains will take place at a later date in Marion Cemetery in Marion, Minn.
