PEKIN - Clea R. Candler, 74, of Pekin passed away at 7:55 a.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at her home.
Born Sept. 11, 1938, in Pekin to Ray Richmond and C. Margaret (Keefe) Hawkins, she married John Harold Candler on May 13, 1956, in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Margaret (Edward) White of Bartonville, Laura Candler of Pekin, Diana Johnson Schaab of Peoria and Leslie Tolbert of Pekin; one son, John (Lynn) Candler of Green Valley; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Peggy (Marvin) Quick of Manito and Bev (Thomas) McClary of Morton. She was looking forward to the birth of two great-grandchildren this summer.
She was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Owen Candler; one baby sister; and one nephew, Matthew Quick.
Clea retired from Pekin Hospital in 1996 with 24 years of service, where she worked as a CNA in surgery.
She was a member of the Pekin Hospital Retirees Club and Pekin Women of the Moose Chapter 673.
She loved going to Walmart with her grandchildren and going to the Par-A-Dice on her birthday.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Chaplain Dwight Winnett will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
