PEORIA - Cynthia Marie Lawson, 58, of Peoria, Ill., passed away at home at 9:25 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013.

She was born Aug. 8, 1955, in Humboldt, Iowa, to Dr. Kenneth and June Pollock Pride. She married Gary Lawson on July 3, 1983. He survives.

Also surviving are her father and stepmother, Dr. Kenneth (Sandy) Pride of Humboldt, Iowa; her daughter, Sarah (Jason) Barley of Chillicothe; two sons, Scott Lawson of Peoria and Andrew (Whitney) Lawson, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Spangdahlem, Germany; her grandson, Liam Barley of Chillicothe; her two sisters, Beverly (Steve) Templeton of Garner, Iowa, and Annette Pride of Denver, Colo.; her brother-in-law, Bill Royer of Washington, Ill., and various cousins, nieces and nephews.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother, June Pride; and one sister, Deborah Royer.

Cindy, as many called her, was a wonderful mother and homemaker and also worked to design kitchen and baths. She often opened her home to many.

She was a regular attendee of Bethany Baptist Church and had a heart for God and sharing His love with others. Cynthia's favorite Bible verse is, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." (Philippians 4:13). Cynthia was a loving wife and mother. She did all things with excellence.

The visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Bethany Baptist Church on Heinz Lane and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m., also at Bethany Baptist Church. Dr. Ritch Boerckel will be officiating. The burial will be at Swan Lake Cemetery.
