Dennis Fayhee Obituary

avon - Dennis Fayhee, 65, of Paris, Ill., formerly of Avon, passed away on April 15, 2013, at his residence in the presence of family.

Dennis was born in Avon, Ill., on May 30, 1947, to Paul E. and Elizabeth A. (Wasson) Fayhee. Dennis married Elaine Petrick on Oct. 6, 1973, in Prairieburg, Iowa. They were happily married for 39 years.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Elaine; his four children, Heather, Kimberly, Ryan (Megann) and John (Kayla) Fayhee; and three grandchildren, Harvey, Rodney, and Savana Fayhee; and four sisters, Maureen, Elizabeth Fayhee, Denise (Russ) Zavitson, and Lori (Ron Principato) Fayhee.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Paul, and his sister Colleen.

He attended Bushnell-Prairie City High School and graduated from St. Louis University in 1972.

Dennis enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967 and served in Vietnam.

Dennis worked for John Fayhee and Sons in Prairie City, Ill., selling shortline farm equipment and was later in a farm implement business with his father. In 1982, Dennis joined Edward D. Jones, opening an office in Paris, Ill., before establishing his own financial services business in 1988. In 1995, Dennis and Elaine were awarded a federal lease on Lake Shelbyville, Ill., and on that site owned and operated Sullivan Marina and Campground together with their family.

Dennis enjoyed participating in Republican politics and was an avid University of Illinois basketball fan. He was beloved by a large extended family and many friends made along the way.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church of Bushnell, Ill. Father Tom Holloway will officiate. Burial of ashes will follow in Prairie City Cemetery. Family and friends will be received between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday April 19, 2013, at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home of Bushnell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to LUNGevity and the Imagination Library.
