WASHINGTON - Donald Beckers, 86, of Mount Pulaski, formerly of Washington, Ill., passed away at 8:25 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013, at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.
Donald was born on Jan. 1, 1927, in Mount Pulaski, the son of George F. and Hazel B. Potter Beckers.
Donald served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He retired from Caterpillar following 37 years of service as a research project coordinator.
Donald was a member of the Mount Pulaski Methodist Church.
Donald is survived by his sisters, Hazel J. (Ralph) Raber of Mount Carmel and Joan (John) Stahly of Bloomington; seven nieces and nephews; and a number of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Roy Beckers; and his beloved dog, "Tubby."
Services for Donald will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Mount Pulaski Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded by the Mount Pulaski American Legion Post 447.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.
