Donald L. Schielein, 88, of Chillicothe passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at his home surrounded by loving family.

He was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Peoria to Leonard B. and Anna H. (Kriete) Schielein. He married M. Rosene Conley of Princeville on Nov. 25, 1948.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Louise Tobin of Mossville.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years and their four children, Reanee (Harry) Gladden of Holland Mich., Robert (Juli) Schielein of Chillicothe, Ill., Diana Westart of Dixon, Ill., and James (Bernadine) Schielein of Dixon, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donald was a 1944 graduate of Chillicothe Township High School and a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was a lifelong farmer, retiring in 2005.
He was a member of Peoria County Farm Bureau, serving as a director for many years. In 2007, he received the Ag Service Award for his dedication and support of the Farm Bureau.
He served on and worked with Peoria Co. Extension Board and Foundation. He served as a Trustee for Medina Township and served on many other boards and committees. He was member and supporter of Pearce Community Center.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at the Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at Weber-Hurd with burial at LaSalle Cemetery. Father Keith Walder will be officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edwards Catholic Church, Peoria County Farm Bureau Foundation or Camp Courageous of Iowa (camp for special needs children).
