MORTON - Donna J. Longer, 85, of Morton, Ill., formerly of Danville, Ill., passed away and went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at AC Restmor in Morton.
Donna was born June 16, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., to Harry M. and Eva M. Chezem. She married Don Longer on Aug. 19, 1950, in Danville, Ill.
Donna is survived by her husband, Don of Morton, Ill.; her daughters, Vickie (Michael Boatman) Longer of East Peoria, Ill., and Candy (Randy) Kaluza of Morton, Ill.; grandson, Michael (Trisha) Kaluza of Morton; and two precious great-grandchildren, Haley and Layton. Also surviving are her sister, Alice J. Hall; and brother, Jim (Connie) Chezem; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dean Chezem.
Donna was a devoted Christian wife and mother. She was a talented artist and seamstress. After her children were grown, Donna spent time traveling with Christian Women's Club as a motivational speaker. She was very involved all her life at Ridgeview Baptist Church. She brought joy and a smile to everyone.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville, with Pastor Mark Keyser officiating. A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgeview Baptist Church, Don and Donna Longer Scholarship Fund at Lakeview College of Nursing in Danville and Don and Donna Longer Scholarship Fund at Danville Area Community College.
