HOPEDALE - Elizabeth "Betty" Yuhas Bourscheidt, 93, of Hopedale, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Hopedale Hospital.
She was born April 24, 1920, in Nadost, Czechoslovakia, to Emery and Mary Adamko Yuhas. She married Charles Bourscheidt on June 15, 1946, in Peoria and he passed away on Oct. 31, 2007.
She was a dedicated and loving mother to her daughter, Marjorie (Arthur) Tattersall of Mackinaw.
She was preceded in death by three infant children; one sister, Helen (William) Blake; and one brother, Emery (Marjorie) Yuhas.
Betty graduated from Head's Business School in 1940.
She worked at Le Tourneau Westinghouse in Peoria, Veterans Administration in Washington, D.C., and at Peoria Rotary Club.
She was a past member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, its Tuesday Morning Prayer Group, its Altar Society and Women's Club, the Peoria Catholic Women's League, and the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary.
She did volunteer work for Salvation Army, Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, and had been a volunteer Gray Lady at the State Hospital in Bartonville.
Betty loved traveling, gardening, sewing, reading, playing Scrabble, and was known for her generous heart and enjoyment of family and friends.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hopedale, where a funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2013. Monsignor Timothy Nolan will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Davis Mortuary, 204 SW Second St., in Hopedale, followed by a rosary service at 6 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria.
