WASHINGTON - Ella Kathryn Allbritton, 68, of Washington, Ill., died at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Snyder Village in Metamora, Ill.
Born on Jan. 29, 1945, in Jasper, Ala., to Charles C. and Josephine Gaddy Wright, she married Joseph C. Allbritton on April 19, 1964, in Creve Coeur, Ill. He preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Jeff M. Allbritton and Daniel C. (Laurie) Allbritton, both of East Peoria; her mother, Josephine Wright of Mobile, Ala.; one sister, Charlene (David) Brodt of Washington, Ill.; one brother, Cecil J. Wright of Mobile, Ala.; one granddaughter, Melissa Del Rio of Decatur, Ill.; two nephews; and one great-niece.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Beginning as an LPN, Ella worked to become a nursing home administrator, where she worked in various nursing homes in the Peoria area, and made numerous lifelong friendships.
She was an active member and past secretary of the Better Breathers Club and was a faithful member of Beverly Manor Baptist Church as long as her health allowed her to go.
She also was an avid gardener, known for her beautiful flower gardens.
Services for Ella will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Mike McCoskey will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OSF Hospice.
