CANTON - Fern Miller, 98, of Canton passed away at 10:22 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Red Oak Estates in Canton.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1915, in a farm home west of Norris to Clarence and Flossie Vercoe Saunders. She was later raised by her grandparents Alice and George Saunders.
She married Robert H. Miller on Sept. 20, 1938, in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1999.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara (Noble) Stern of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Linda Holliday and Jay Greene; great-granddaughters, Ashley and Katie Hess; and a half brother, Lt. Col. George E. Saunders of Savannah, Ga.
One half sister, Betty Pschirrer, preceded her in death.
Fern was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton, its Lydia Circle, Wo-Fa-Lo Sunday school class, United Methodist Women and a former member of Lambda Chi Omega Sorority.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at the Red Oak Estates in Canton. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of the ashes will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.
