PEORIA - Frederica A. "Ricky" Andrew, 69, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012, with her family by her side.
Ricky was born on April 17, 1943, in Owensborough, Ky., to Wilfred and Helen (Mix) Lyons Reddish. Ricky married Roger J. Best in 1964. She later married Frederick Andrew in 1986.
Ricky is survived by four daughters, Dawn (Jon) Van Gundy of Grove City, Ohio, Annette (Jesse) Gutierrez of Peoria, Jennifer Best of Columbus, Ohio, and Kelly (Eric) Ryan of Grove City, Ohio. She was the proud grandmother of Jason, Jeff and Joey Van Gundy, Jacob Best, Ryan, Zach and Alex Gutierrez and Tyler and Ally Ryan. She is also survived by four sisters, Joan (Milan) Telian of San Jose, Calif., Beverly Kingdon of Peoria, Anita (Dick) Sollenberger of East Moline and Janis Grogan of Grove City, Ohio; as well as many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; and special friends, Sharon Adler and Ashtyn Ricks.
Ricky was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Andrew; her beloved son, Gary Best; and sister, Victoria McDonough.
Ricky was a farm girl at heart being raised in Brimfield. She cherished the memories and life-long friendships she made during that time.
She was the office manager at Andrew Insurance before she and Fred sold the business and retired in 1998.
She had many fond memories of the trips she and Fred made while members of the Ohio Grocers Association and met many wonderful friends through their insurance business.
Ricky lived every day to the fullest. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a giving soul with a never ending smile and unforgettable blue eyes. The love and support she showed others was endless. She had a love of music. Her favorite artist was Eric Clapton. One of her greatest joys was watching and supporting her grandchildren in all their activities and sporting events.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love, support and care during her illness, especially her sisters, Janis Grogan and Anita Sollenberger, niece and nephew, Debbie "Greeta" and Larry "Ol' Uncle Lar" Blackburn and sons-in-law, Jon Van Gundy and Jesse Gutierrez.
Per her wishes, there will be no public services, and cremation rights will be accorded. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Kickapoo at a later date. Wright and Salmon Funeral Home are assisting the family with arrangements.
