YATES CITY - G. Dale Elliott, 96, of Yates City passed away at 2 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at his residence.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1917, in Yates City to George and Doris (Chase) Elliott. They preceded him in death, along with one sister, Phyllis Bantz.
He married Dorothy Knussman on Nov. 18, 1950, in Yates City. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Doug (Mary) Elliott of New Hampshire, Brent (Susan) Elliott of Yates City and Brian (Pam) Elliott of Williamsfield; one brother, Don Elliott of Elmwood; six grandchildren, Jarame (Tina), Nikki (Cody), Jessica (Jim), Tori (Geoff), Evan (Cynthia) and Chris (Liz); and nine great-grandchildren, Madi, Madyson, Jayde, Kaden, Austin, Waylon, Cash, Addison and McKenzie.
He and his brother Don ran Elliott Custom Farm Service for many years. He retired from Gates Rubber Co. in Galesburg and volunteered at Wildlife Prairie Park, where he drove the train for 23 years.
A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood, with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014. An additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of the ashes will be held in the Yates City Cemetery.
