HENRY - Gerald T. "Cowboy" Hageman, 69, of Henry died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at his home in Henry.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family graveside service will be at Calvary Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the Henry VFW Post 555, 418 E. Park Row, Henry, or to Toys for Tots.

Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home in Henry is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry was born April 17, 1944, in Rock Island, Ill., to Frank and Ellen (Hoeffken) Hageman. He married Carolyn Martens on Dec. 1, 1973, in Pekin, Ill. She survives in Henry.

Also surviving is his mother, Ellen Hageman of Henry; three brothers, Larry (Diane) Hageman of Oswego, Don (Colette) Hageman of South Jordon, Utah, and Richard (Pam) Hageman of Hollywood, Md.; two sisters, Mary Ann Hageman of Delray Beach, Fla., and Pat Hageman of Henry; and many nieces and nephews.

His father, Frank Hageman, and his faithful companion, Black Dog, preceded him in death.

Jerry graduated from Henry-Senachwine schools and attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa.

He served his country in the USNCB from 1965 to 1968, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam.

He was a member of the Henry VFW Post 555 and a lifetime member of the Henry American Legion.

Jerry was employed for 35 years at Caterpillar Tractor Company, Mossville plant as an inspector.

He loved to fish, play cards and pool, work in his woodworking shop, attending to his roses and spending the winters in Florida. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
