Glenn Evans Obituary

MORTON - Glenn T. Evans, 92, of Morton passed away at 1:03 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at his home.

He was born May 28, 1921, in Eddyville, Iowa, to Ralph and Lucy (Myers) Evans. He married Mary Alice Lewis on June 7, 1946, in Albany, Ill.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Alice Evans of Morton; four children, Guy (Denise) Evans of Mainsville, Ohio, Carolu (Tim) Kizer and Thomas (Sally) Evans, both of Morton, and James D. Evans (Michelle Whittington) of East Peoria; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren: five stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

Glenn worked as a pharmacist and district manager with Walgreen's in Moline, Ill., then as vice president with Super-X in Cincinnati, Ohio, and then later was in partnership with Our X Drugs in the area, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of Morton United Methodist Church.

Glenn and his wife enjoyed traveling, especially in Europe and around the world. He also enjoyed playing bridge.

Glenn and Mary Alice volunteered with We Care, Inc. in Morton, where they delivered Meals on Wheels.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Morton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Motta officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Military honors will be conducted following the service.

Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangement.
