Harvey Dringenberg Obituary

GLASFORD - Harvey Dean Dringenberg, 71, of Wheatland, Mo., formerly of Pekin, Rome, Glasford and Banner, Ill., passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at Harry S. Truman Veterans Memorial Hospital in Columbia, Mo., where he has been a hospice patient since February 2013.

He was born Nov. 9, 1942, to Harvey and Helen Georges Dringenberg in Pekin, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (James) Herrman of Aledo, Ill., and Shirley (Robert) Garlish of Petersburg, Ill.; grandson, Dustin Dringenberg of Pekin, Ill., granddaughters, Rachel Herrman and Andrea Hawkins; brothers and sisters, David (Christy) Dringenberg of Delavan, Ill., Sandra Furey of Hermitage, Mo., Jerry (Lillian) Dringenberg of Puyallup, Wash., Larry (Sunnie) Dringenberg of Newport News, Va., Richard (Becky) Dringenberg of Wheatland, Mo., Barb Owens Kramer of Pekin, Ill., Deborah (Gary) Cartwright of Apex, N.C., Christina (Jerry) Hackman of Apex, N.C., and Victoria (Mel) Canada of Spring Lake, Ill., two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of the Glasford Optimist Club serving as a past president, American Legion Post 785 of Wheatland, Mo., serving as a past commander, Pomme de Terre Rendezvous serving as a past president and a member of Galmey Community Bible Church.

His employment included Caterpillar, Peoria County Jailer, Murison Labels, Home Juice Co., Peters Floral, Berwyn Dorothy concrete, sandblasting, house painter, home inspector and security guard.

Harvey wanted his body donated to the University of Missouri for research. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, June 14, 2014, in Illinois.
