Jacqueline Gross Obituary

CHILLICOTHE - Jacqueline M. Gross, 71, of Chillicothe passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

She was born Jan. 8, 1942, in Peoria, the daughter of Keith and Ileene (Matthewson) Hall. She married Carl A. Gross on May 21, 1960, in Peoria.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years; one daughter, Caryn Knop of Chillicothe; one son, Carl Darrin Gross of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Jami (Steve) Turner, Colt Knop, Nathan Knop and Alayna Knop; five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Turner, Brody Turner, Kasen Knop, Jackson Knop and Lincoln Knop, due in May.

Also surviving are one brother, Kenneth (Char) Hall of Georgia; one sister-in-law, Betty (Del) Knootz of Bartonville; one niece, Glenna (Marc) Rogers; three nephews, Decher Kritzmeier, Christopher Hall and Anthony Hall; and one great-niece, Anne Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jacqueline worked at Montgomery Ward in downtown Peoria in 1959, when she met her husband Carl, who also worked there. Then she worked for several area banks, First Federal Savings, Chillicothe State Bank, People's Savings and Loan in Chillicothe and as branch manager for the Dunlap office. She retired from Edward Jones in Chillicothe.

She was a loving, caring, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed painting, traveling, reading, boating, gardening, golfing and doing puzzles.

She will be missed greatly by her family, friends and best friend Kay Wilson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Pastor James Clark will officiate. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home or Rescue 33.

A celebration of life potluck will be held at Pearce Community Center following the funeral service.
