WASHINGTON - Jane Carwell, 66, formerly of Washington, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at her home in Dunlap.
Jane was born on April 13, 1948, in Iowa to Roy and June (Brantsen) Carwell.
Among those surviving are her three sons, David (Jolene) Hamann of Bloomington and Steve (Pam) Hamann and Rick (Diana) Hamann, both of Evanston; and her eight grandchildren, Josh, Fox, Ryker, Molly, Finn, Rory, Elijah and Luca.
Jane had earned a master's degree in education from Illinois State University and had also attended Wartburg College in Iowa.
For many years prior to moving to Washington, Jane had been a teacher at Bloomington Junior High School.
She also had loved her gardening and had earned a master gardener designation from University of Illinois Extension Service.
Jane was of the Lutheran faith and had been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomington and St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington and had volunteered for many years at the Church Mouse in Peoria.
A service to celebrate Jane's life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington, with Pastor James Lillie officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Lutheran Social Services.
