PEORIA - Jeanne H. Schroeder, 89, of Peoria, formerly of Evanston, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Lutheran Hillside Village.

Jeanne was born on Feb. 28, 1924, in Chicago to Orville Quincy and Grace (Bouland) Hinds. She married C. Wilson Schroeder on July 5, 1944. He preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Steve (Kati) Hinds, Tom (Dawn) Hinds, John (Melanie) Hinds, Paul Hinds, Jim Hinds, Rob Schroeder, Nancy (Rocky) Ziegler, Bill (Polly) Hinds, John (Linda) Hinds and Bonnie (Mike) Wellman.

Jeanne was a 1944 graduate of Bradley Polytechnic Institute, where she was a member and officer of Lambda Phi Sorority.

She worked in accounting, advertising, public relations and fundraising in Albuquerque, N.M., Fort Wayne, Ind., St. Louis, Mo., and Evanston, Ill.

In Fort Wayne, Jeanne was an active member of AAUW and board secretary of the YWCA. Later, she was active in the Women's Club of Evanston. In returning to Peoria after 49 years away, she was active in Bradley University's Institute for Learning in Retirement. Additionally, she was a volunteer at Hillside Village. She was also a board member of the gift shop at Lutheran Hillside Village and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

A worship service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at the Water of Life Chapel at Lutheran Hillside Village, 6901 N. Galena Road. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. A private burial will be at Resurrection Mausoleum.
