WALNUT - Jerry G. Schulte, age 70, of Walnut passed away suddenly on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, Ill.
Jerry was born on March 31, 1942, in Princeton, Ill., the son of Albert and Marie (VonHolten) Schulte. He was united in marriage to Kathy Kepner on June 10, 1962, at the United Brethren Church in Manlius, Ill.
He was employed at Avanti Foods as a semi truck driver and retired in 2007.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Ohio, Ill.
Jerry was devoted to his family and enjoyed his hobby of raising Koi fish.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Schulte of Walnut, Ill.; five daughters, Kathy Jean (Tim) Hermeyer of Princeton, Ill., Sandra (Chris) Larson of Peoria, Ill., Annette (Jeff) Holaway of Wheaton, Ill., Loretta (Chris) Gibson of Walnut, Ill., and Caroline (Nick) Hamby of Peoria, Ill.; two sons, Jerry Albert (Heather) Schulte of Bowie, Md., and Tim Homer Schulte of Los Angeles, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Marie Schulte of Walnut, Ill.; four sisters, Carolyn (Don) Wallace of Tampico, Ill., Joyce (Dean) Geldean of Harmon, Ill., Judy (Steve) Sidebottom of Toluca, Ill., and Carla (Tim) Gonigam of Walnut, Ill.; three brothers, Virgil (Judy) Schulte of Walnut, Ill., Marc (Carol) Schulte of Walnut, Ill., and Jim (Cindy) Schulte of Ohio, Ill.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Schulte.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Walnut Community Bible Church, with the Rev. Eldon Cook, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Walnut Community Bible Church.
