WEST PEORIA - John E. Bianco, 81, of Peoria passed away at 11:08 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at his residence.
He was born on September 26, 1936, in Peoria, the son of John and Elizabeth Sereg Bianco. He married the love of his life, Kay A. Russell, on September 10, 1996, in Las Vegas. She passed away on July 5, 2017.
Also preceded him in death were his parents; one daughter, Elaine Russell; and his best friend of 14 years, his Boston Terrier, Buddy.
Surviving are his daughters, Christine Russell and Lorra Russell, both of West Peoria; and one son, Lanny Russell of Brimfield, IL. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Joshua and Johnathon Hess and Danielle Conover; along with several great-grandchildren.
John attended Harrison Grade School, Trewyn Middle School and Manual High School, all in Peoria. After graduation, he worked at Frasco Brothers and Peoria Candy Company. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving 2 years in West Germany with the 4th Armored Division as a tank gunner. John returned to Peoria in 1960 and attended Mid-West Barber College and graduated in 1962. He owned and operated John's Barber Shop in North Pekin from 1962 until 1969. John went to work for J&L Steel in Hennepin, IL, in 1970, retiring in 2001.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and Bradley basketball fan. He enjoyed gardening tomatoes, fishing and his Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Per his wishes, he will be quietly laid to rest, with no services.
