PEKIN - John T. Englebright, 93, of Pekin passed away at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Pekin Manor.
John was born July 31, 1920, in White County, Ill., to Victor and Grace (Duckworth) Englebright. He married Mary Livingood on July 6, 1953, in Holly Springs, Miss. She passed away on May 16, 1996.
He also was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers.
He is survived by two sons, Danny Englebright of Pekin and Robert Englebright of Flushing, N.Y.; two daughters, Tomi (Mark) Pfanz of Pekin and Bert (Scott) Haynes of Princeville; six grandchildren, Chris (Brook) Pfanz, Ashley Walls, Ryan (Stephanie) Englebright, Brett Englebright, Austin (Tara) Walls and Cory Pfanz; two stepgrandchildren, Kyle (Christine) Haynes and Matt Haynes; and five great-grandchildren.
John was a material handler for Caterpillar Inc., retiring on March 31, 1981, after 31 years of service.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Roy L. King VFW Post 1232, Pekin Moose Lodge 916 and Caterpillar Retirees.
He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed fishing. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren playing in their sport events.
Graveside services will be Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Glendale Memorial Gardens, with military honors accorded by the United States Navy and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. The Rev. Daniel J. Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Drive, Pekin.
