John J. Glaub Obituary

BARTONVILLE - John J. Glaub, 91, of Bartonville, Ill., died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Jan. 30, 1922, in Metamora, Ill. He was the son of John R. and Elizabeth C. (Schlosser) Glaub. He married Christine N. Ferris on June 28, 1980, in Peoria, Ill. She preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 1993, in Peoria, Ill.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, four brothers and one sister.

He is survived by three children, Sherry Miller of Peoria, Ill., Tamia (David) Johnson of Garner, N.C., and Brenda (Charles) Johnson of Peoria, Ill. He has 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He worked 40 years as quality control on the bottling line at Hiram Walker Distillery in Peoria, retiring in 1982.

He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the VFW Post in Metamora, Ill. He was also a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bartonville.

John refereed basketball for over 20 years in the Illinois High School Association and was an honorary member of the Illinois High School Association Hall of Fame.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bartonville. Father David Heinz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Cremation rites will be accorded and inurnment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
