PEORIA - Joyce Dalton, 83, of Peoria passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Grand View Specialized Care Center in Peoria.
She was born on November 10, 1934, in Peoria, the daughter of Leo J. and Mary E. Pashon Scott Sr. She married Ralph Dalton on October 19, 1958.
Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" (Daniel) Braband; and her precious granddaughter, Emma Braband, all of Wilmette, Illinois.
Her parents and one brother, Leo J. Scott Jr., preceded her in death.
Joyce was a proud graduate of Manual Training High School, Class of 1953. She also held an Associate Degree from Illinois Central College. Joyce was employed by the Central National Bank and then worked for the Chevrolet Division of General Motors Corporation for 14 years. Later, she served as a pre-school teacher at the Arcadia Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
A move with her husband to Morris, Illinois, provided a new professional challenge with her involvement in the At-Risk Preschool Program in Gundy County, which provided early and bilingual exposure to economically disadvantaged preschool children.
Throughout her life, Joyce was a tireless volunteer for a myriad of local charities and her church. She was a member of First Federated Church in Peoria since 1955.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 3 to 6 p.m. at First Federated Church, 3601 N. Sheridan Road, Peoria, IL 61604. A memorial service will then be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2018, also at the church. The Rev. Dr. Forrest Krummel will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given to South Side Mission, First Federated Church, WestMark Food Pantry or a .
