Peoria - Judith Frietsch Torres, 65, of Downers Grove, formerly of Peoria, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born to Edward and Verla Frietsch in Peoria, Ill., on Sept. 23, 1948. She married Henry Torres on Sept. 21, 1974, at Sacre Coeur Church in Creve Coeur, Ill.
Judy is survived by her husband; two daughters, Carole Torres (Chris Cieslak) of Chicago and Emily Torres Ellis of Downers Grove; and her two grandchildren, Sarah Ellis and Layla Torres. Also surviving are her parents of Deer Creek, Ill.; three brothers, James (Carolyn) Frietsch of Normal, Ill., William (Linda) Frietsch of Tremont, Ill., and Robert (Monica) Frietsch of Mapleton, Ill.; two sisters, Catherine Frietsch of East Peoria, Ill., and Carol (Keelyn) Wu of Freeport, Maine; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Judy graduated from the Academy of Our Lady in Peoria, Ill., in 1966. She attended St. Mary's College in South Bend, Ind., and received her bachelor's degree from DePaul University in Chicago.
She was a former program analyst, and for the past 13 years she has been self employed as a Shaklee distributor.
She was a woman of faith, formerly a member of St. Mary of Gostyn Parish in Downers Grove and now a member of the St. Margaret Mary Parish in Naperville, Ill.
For those who knew Judy, she was always giving and kind and willing to help others in need.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main St. (1 block South of Ogden), Downers Grove. Funeral will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home followed by a procession to St. Margaret Mary Church, 1450 Green Trails Drive, Naperville, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
