CHILLICOTHE - Kenneth E. Krider Sr., age 66, of Chillicothe died on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at 8:30 p.m. at his home.

He was born on Aug. 7, 1946, in Canton, the son of Kenneth R. and Josephine E. (Barnes) Krider. He married Linda M. Behrens on May 27, 1967, in Peoria, Ill.

Surviving are his parents; wife; two children, Julie L. (Brian) Schmidt of Janesville, Iowa, and Kenneth "Chip" E. (Tosca) Krider of Bradford; five grandchildren, Joseph D. Schmidt, Jordan E. Schmidt, Jessica K. Schmidt, Violet M. Krider and Rose W. Krider; two sisters, Ruth E. Morse of Eva, Tenn., and Dr. Diane S. (Dr. Peter) Krider-Ross; and one brother, Keith L. Krider of Chillicothe.

Ken worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Mossville for over 31 years.

He was a member of the Peoria Heights Fire Department from 1969 to 1977. He was very active in the Lincoln Land Kustoms Car Club. He was a past Master Mason and very active in the George Washington Masonic Lodge No. 222, where he served as Senior Deacon, Junior Warden, Senior Warden and Worshipful Master in 2005. He was a past Cub Scout Master.

He was an HO Model Railroad collector and also worked on computers and genealogy.

Ken was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam War during 1966 to 1969.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Masonic rites will be held following the visitation along with reading of his eulogy and prayer. Cremation will be accorded following the service, and burial will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to South Side Bank for an educational fund for his grandchildren.
