CANTON - Lawrence R. "Larry" Miller, 74, of Canton passed away at 6:50 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Heartland Health Care Center in Canton.
He was born on July 30, 1938, in Chicago to Raymond and Minerva "Minnie" Slotman. They preceded him in death.
Larry married Shirley Jean Fortney on Aug. 15, 1969, in Lewistown. She preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 1994.
Surviving are two sons, Rob (Patty) Miller of Canton and Larry (Jody) Miller Jr. of St. David; one grandson, Kaleb Miller; and a cousin, Fred French of Varna, Ill., who was like a brother to him.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Richard Miller.
He was a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Canton Elks Lodge No. 626, riding motorcycles, past member of the Canton Moose lodge and was a loving and caring grandfather to Kaleb.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside burial of ashes will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Canton, with the Rev. Ralph Hill officiating. A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 28, 2013, at 6 p.m. at the American Legion in Canton. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to an education fund for Kaleb Miller C/O Mid-America National Bank.
