MACKINAW - Lorraine "Rainy" Serpette, 79, of Mackinaw, Illinois, died Friday, July 9, 2010, at HCR Manor Care in Peoria.
Rainy was born July 26, 1930, in Mackinaw to Saint Elmo and Blanche Peavler Neeley. She married Emile "Bud" Serpette on Sept. 30, 1948, in Eureka. Bud preceded her in death July 5, 1996.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers and three sisters.
Rainy is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Joe) Fleming of Peoria; three sons, Rick (Becky) Serpette of Circleville, Ohio, Roger Serpette of Peoria and Tim (Peggy) Serpette of Tremont; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one brother, Gene (Mary) Neeley of Tremont.
Rainy was a member of the Mackinaw Christian Church.
She was a member of the last class to graduate from Mackinaw Township High School in 1948.
Besides raising four children, she and her family owned and operated Serpette Eggs and Serpette Upholstery Shop in Mackinaw.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Mackinaw Christian Church. The Rev. Warren Turner will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Mackinaw Christian Church. Burial will be in Mackinaw Township Cemetery.
Haensel Funeral Home in Mackinaw is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials in memory of Rainy can be sent to Mackinaw Rescue Squad or Mackinaw Christian Church.
Rainy's first thought and comment towards her friends and family was, "How can I help you?"

Serpette Family,
