WASHINGTON - Lynn Darrell Beck, 63, of Washington died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at 3:50 a.m. at Washington Christian Village.

He was born Aug. 31, 1949, in Valley City, N.D., to Rex H. Jr. and Grace Faust Beck. Lynn married Mary Ann Gregg on Jan. 4, 2003, in Germantown Hills. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Rebecca (Mark) Mathews and Christine (James) Anderson, both of Las Vegas, Nev., and Sydney Jarrett of Raleigh, N.C.; one son, Ken (Jennifer) Beck of Las Vegas; one stepdaughter, Carrie Gregg of Streator; six grandchildren, AnnMarie, Morgan, Tyler, Madison, Allison and Harley; two sisters, Dotty Norgard of Little Canada, Minn., and Sandy (Perry) Espe of Grand Forks, N.D.; and four brothers, Garry (Aquina) Beck of West Fargo, N.D., Kelly (Brenda) Beck of Arvilla, N.D., Rick (Sheila) Beck of Metamora and Cliff Beck, U.S. Navy, of Dallas, Texas.

He grew up in North Dakota, graduating from Tower City High School in Tower City, N.D. He moved to Oregon in 1977 and then to Peoria in 1994. He graduated from both Valley City State College in North Dakota and from Portland Community College in Portland, Ore.

Lynn was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He also served his country in the North Dakota Army National Guard and in Oregon in the U.S. Army Reserves, serving 17 years in all.

He worked various jobs including computer software programming, truck driving and various positions in health care food service. He last worked in March 2012 for Risinger Brothers Transfer Inc. in Morton.

Lynn enjoyed woodworking, singing and cooking.

Lynn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria, where there will be a memorial service Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Mark J. Nelson will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be military honors following the service. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to Cancer Center for Healthy Living.
