HOPEDALE - Marie Wittrig, 95, of Hopedale passed away at 12:59 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
She was born Feb. 1, 1919, in East Peoria to George W. and Mary Wyss Moushon. She married Glenn A. Wittrig on Oct. 16, 1941, in East Peoria, and he passed away April 16, 1989.
Surviving are one daughter, Rena Schaefer of Morton; four grandchildren, Scott (Lynn) Wittrig of Florida, Marci (Tom) Wise of Indiana, Angie (Brock) Woods of Morton and Kenny (Cristin) Rassi of Morton; seven great-grandchildren, Haley and Damon Wise of Indiana, Brent, Braden and Brennen Rassi of Morton and Brody and Lexie Woods of Morton.
She was preceded in death by one son, Glenn R. "Dick" Wittrig in 1992; three brothers; six sisters; and one son-in-law, Greg Schaefer.
Marie was a beloved Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker for over 70 years. She will be missed by many.
She was a member of Hopedale Mennonite Church in Hopedale.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Davis Mortuary in Hopedale. Pastor Kurt Walker will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Mennonite Cemetery in Hopedale.
