PRINCEVILLE - Marjorie A. Haynes, 79, of Champaign, formerly of Princeville, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Heartland Health Care Center in Champaign.
Marjorie was born Aug. 21, 1934, in Carlinville, Ill., the daughter of George and Irene Hicks Harrum. She married James E. Haynes on Feb. 4, 1955, in Carlinville, Ill. He died Jan. 30, 2012, in Urbana.
Surviving are two sons, Jeff (Jean) Haynes of Danville, Pa., and Peter (Elaine) Haynes of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Sandy Melvin of Urbana, Ill., and Carrie (Todd) Garlick of Fort Jackson, S.C.; and grandchildren, Jessica (Robert) Kovalseky, Mike, Scott, Anna and Emily Haynes, Melissa Melvin, Chris (Courtney) Garlick and Ben and Margaret Garlick.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Zachary Melvin.
Marjorie was a teacher at Millbrook Grade School in Laura and Princeville Grade School.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and visiting with her grandkids. Marjorie's favorite thing to do was spending summer days at the swimming pool.
The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Princeville. The Rev. Tracy Heilman will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service on Saturday. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Mayfield Memorial Park in Carlinville, Ill.
