EAST PEORIA - Michael L. Jackson, 45, of East Peoria passed away at 5:20 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013, at his home.
Mike was born Oct. 19, 1967, in Galesburg to Larry and Pamela McCullough Jackson.
Surviving are his parents of East Peoria; sisters, Laura (Nick) Bozidarevic of Gilberts and Melissa (Bill) Mount of Morton; two nephews, three nieces, three aunts and six uncles.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Mike graduated from Bradley University and went on to work in the Chicago area as a CPA, as well as a spokesperson for the City of Chicago Health Department.
While in Chicago, he founded the HEARTS Foundation, a not-for-profit organization assisting those affected by AIDS.
He then returned to central Illinois, where he found enjoyment working as a personal trainer. Most recently, he worked at Gold's Gym of Morton.
Apart from exercising, he enjoyed inspiring his clients, and was an encourager.
Mike will always be remembered for his smile and his ability to bring light and energy with him wherever he went.
Memorial services for Mike will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Pastor James Frye and Reverend Dave Jones, Mike's uncle, will officiate. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
