PEORIA - Nancy Jo Fleming, 56, died at her residence at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1954, at Pekin Hospital in Pekin, Ill. The daughter of Emile Bud and Iva Lorraine Neeley Serpette of Mackinaw, she married Joseph W. Fleming on Feb. 11, 1983, in Peoria, Ill. He survives.
Nancy also is survived by her sons, Matthew J. (Teresa) Fleming of Norwood, Zachary J. (Erica) Fleming of East Peoria and Joseph P. Fleming of Peoria; two granddaughters, Isabel and Grace Fleming; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, who will all know she dearly loved them.
She was preceded in death by her four grandparents and her parents, Bud and Rainy.
Nancy was the only girl in a family with three brothers. She was baptized Christian and went to church with her grandma "Minnie" Serpette. She attended Mackinaw schools and graduated from Mackinaw High School. She had many wonderful childhood memories of life in Mackinaw, which she shared with her friend Kathy.
Just out of high school, she began working in banks, a career in which she would excel. From Sunnyland Bank to Jefferson Bank, Bank One, she chose to stay at her favorite and most successful, CEFCU airport offices, for 16 years. There she was a check-processing manager with an eye toward the success of her employer and the welfare and advancement of herself and many who worked for her. She loved her job, and she loved her family at CEFCU.
Many years later, after marrying her husband, Joe, and with three boys to raise, she completed two associate degrees at ICC.
Nancy and Joe raised three sons, Matt, Zach and Joe.
Her genuineness and compassion made her many friends. She had a couple of favorite groups of girlfriends, with whom she shared much enjoyment and mutual love.
She loved to travel, was adventurous and loved seeing and trying new things. Her job allowed her and Joe to travel some, and they saw a lot of the U.S. scenery and cities. Jamaica was a spot Nancy and Joe visited twice, and other numerous adventures with friends and family filled her life.
She was a dedicated member of the Eucharistic Adoration program at Holy Family Parish, where she also made friends, young and old alike.
She was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife and a terrific mom.
After raising three sons and with three brothers, Nancy was joyous and proud becoming a grandmother to Isabel and Grace Fleming, the girls she had waited so long for.
Basically a simple woman with remarkable energy, Nancy loved to laugh, and over the years shared "new" jokes with "OB," Jack, "Duck" or whomever she could enlighten. All who knew her will remember her as a truly genuinely nice and caring person and will miss her support and positive attitude. May God bless her and keep her until we all meet again. Thanks to all her friends (you know who you are) who helped her, Joe and the family get through some difficult times. God bless you all, and God bless Nancy Jo Serpette Fleming.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Franciscan Fathers officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to OSF Children's Hospital.

Joe and Family - So sorry for your loss. Nancy was such a kind and joyful person. It is so tragic when someone so full of life and so much to live for is taken away prematurely. I will always remember her smile. My deepest sympathies. God bless.

I had known Nancy Fleming for amost 20 years, having first met her at Jefferson Bank but really got to know her from her work at CEFCU. Nancy was a truly genuine individual, an extremely hard worker and a wonderful friend. She really loved her family and especially those grandchildren. Nancy, Joe, my wife and I spent some good times together at various banking conventions, especially the seafood grill in Miami Beach. God bless and keep her. Lad. Kvasnicka (Chicago (IL)

Nancy was an extraordinary women, friend, mother, grandmother, and wife. She will be remembered for being a giving, caring, thoughtful person. I was fortunate to work for/with her and have her as a friend. I will miss her laugh and her never ending energy. Although I had not spoken to her in a while, I hold her dear in my heart and know that she is missed by many.

Nancy was a blessing to everyone she encountered in life! We were close for a chunk of time in our lives (she was a blast to co-cub scout lead with!!)and I think about you all often. The times we ran into each other always left me smiling for days. I still smile as I type thinking of all of you. My heart is breaking for you all right now as I type. Please know that God is there helping you through this even though it will not feel that way at times. May He help ease the pain quickly and leave you with wonderful memories.
Love & Peace,

So many memories I hold in my heart of our growing up together. The family gatherings on Christmas Day -- all of the cousins excited to share what they got for Christmas. The Serpette family reunions in July at Miller Park. Take comfort from the memories of the good times that you shared. All my love

To the Fleming and Serpette families: I am so sorry to hear of Nancy's passing... We were Dee-Mack classmates all through grade and high school. She was a great classmate and a wonderful friend. Lonnie and I have some great memories of our friendships with her! You are all in our thoughts and prayers now and in the coming weeks and months. You didn't lose her; she's just relocated for a while until you meet again in Heaven! To Nancy: We love and miss you - never to be forgotten! We'll have a grand reunion someday, Sweet Friend!!!
