EAST PEORIA - Opal D. Marshall, 83, of East Peoria, Ill., died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at her home.
Born on March 8, 1930, in Benson, Ill., to George and Phoebe "Bena" Theirer Uphoff, she married William "Bill" Marshall on Nov. 1, 1953, in Benson, Ill. He preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 2008, in East Peoria, Ill.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are four children, Ron Marshall of East Peoria, Ill., Debra (Mike) Son of Carthage, Ill., Janet (Norm) Harlan and Lisa (Chuck) Friend, both of East Peoria, Ill.; one brother, Everett (Bonnie) Uphoff of Heber Springs, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Marshall, David Son, James Son, Rachel Son, Leah Harlan, Bethany Harlan, Christina Schroeter and Shena Friend; and eight great-grandchildren.
She worked at Hershel Manufacturing in Peoria, Robein Grade School in East Peoria as a lunch room supervisor and in the cafeteria at Washington Community High School. She later worked as the office manager at Olan Mills Portrait Studio in East Peoria.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Washington and was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed playing cards and dancing with Bill to their favorite song, "It Had to be You."
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Clayton Township Cemetery in Benson, Ill. Cremation rites have been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
