PEORIA - Patricia A. Carr Frietsch, 92, of Peoria passed away into God's arms at 11:10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at John C. Proctor Endowment Home.
Patricia was born Oct. 9, 1921, in Green Bay, Wis., the eldest child of Harry William and Laura J. (Krause) Carr. She married Paul Edward Frietsch on Sept. 26, 1953, at St. Mary's Cathedral. He preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 2013.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Cullen Daniel, Richard Joseph and William Phillip Carr.
She is survived by her daughter, Eileen M. Frietsch of Peoria; her son, Kevin of Ontario, Calif.; one granddaughter, Laura L. Austin, and one great-grandson, Jayrid Stoltz, both of Peoria; and one niece, Cynthia W. Carr (Roger) Stagg of Paway, Calif.
Patricia attended St. Mary's Grade School and Academy of Our Lady, graduating in 1941.
She worked in the office of Caterpillar Tractor Co. and was president of the Caterpillar Girls' Club for 20 years. She was also a member of the Caterpillar Chorus and sang lead in many of their musical productions.
Patricia was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral Choir, Palestrina Choir, Bradley Community Chorus, Peoria Opera Chorus, Schola Cantorum and St. Vincent de Paul Parrish Choir. She was a Brownie leader, Girl Scout leader, den mother for Boy Scout Pack 28 and a member of Cursillo 367. She was a 25-year volunteer for the Salvation Army and an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and their Ladies' Guild. She was a member of the Knight of Columbus Spalding Council 427 Ladies' Auxiliary, where she was awarded the "Woman of the Year Award" in 2000 and was past co-president. She was also a member off the Catholic Women's League and a past volunteer for the Literacy Volunteers of America, where she helped adults learn to read.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father John Cyr will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
