Paul Arnett Obituary

MORTON - Paul D. Arnett, 85, of Morton died at 5:55 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.

He was born April 30, 1928, in Decatur, Ill., to Irving and Lydia (Sternes) Arnett. He married Eula Leuthold on Sept. 17, 1950, in Washington.

Surviving are his wife, Eula Arnett of Morton; three sons, Greg (Sandy) Arnett of Canton, Kevin (Terri) Arnett of Sachse, Texas, and Barry (Michelle) Arnett of Bartonville; two daughters, Paula Millikin of East Peoria and Lisa Arnett (Jane Seiler) of Peoria; seven grandchildren, Barry Jr., Kelly, Jessica, Julia, Amanda, Jason and Jeremy; eight great-grandchildren, Zachary, Marcus, Jordan, Andrew, Sarah, Ryan, Stephanie and Joey; one great-great-grandchild, Adalynn; and two sisters, Marj Guidi of Farmington and Karen Lee of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Having served for two years in the Army, Paul was a Korean War veteran, retiring as a sergeant.

He worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 36 years and retired from the Mossville Engine Facility as a general foreman.

Paul was a member and trustee of the East Peoria Mennonite Church. He was very dedicated to his church and volunteered regularly.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, landscaping and creating woodworking projects for family, friends, his church and his community. Paul and Eula spent their winters together in Lake Wales, Fla. Above all, Paul cherished his wife of 63 years and his children, of whom he was most proud.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at East Peoria Mennonite Church, with Pastor John Gray and Pastor Maurice Yordy officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Further visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton, where full military rites will be conducted.
